Dear Gary Paulsen,

I read Hatchet. This book inspired me, because it taught me to never give up. When Brian go hungry and cared he didn’t give up He never gave up when he saw the bear or the moose he stood there and didn’t run away. Brian never gave up. He was determined to get food, make a shelter and stay alive. I can compare myself to him, because when I was learning my math facts I really wanted to get it done no matter how long it took me. I wasn’t giving up.

Brian was very calm during the tornado. That taught me to stay calm if I am ever in a tornado or a big storm. Brian used his hatchet for a tool and to get tools. I can compare myself to Brian because once I was in a blackout and got scared and my mind thought what would Brian do? My answer was stay calm. Brian would stay calm.

This book really inspired me.
