Dear Leslea Newman,

Ever since I’ve read Hachiko Waits I’ve wanted to visit Hachiko’s statue. Hachiko was faithful his master was coming back and ever since I read about him I haven’t given up at hard things as easily as I used to.

Hachiko gave me faith.  Whenever things are hard I think of Hachiko and how he waited his whole life for his master to come back.  He got me through my parents break-up.  That was a really hard time in my life.  He was an amazing animal and I wish I could have met him.

After I read it I wanted to learn a lot more about Akita-Kens.  I was amazed at how much there is to learn!  Hachiko was mentioned the most in my Akita-Ken report.

Hachiko Waits is an inspiring story, and I still read it.

My favorite part was after Hachiko dies when Mr. Yoshikawa is talking to Yasuo about how he thinks there is a train up in heaven that Hachiko will get off and find his master waiting for him.  That part made me cry.

I will always have Hachiko on my mind.

Sincerely,

Makenna Bogart
