The Center for Research on Education, Diversity and Excellence , contains excellent information on 5 standards for effective pedagogy: teachers and students working together, developing language and literacy skills across the curriculum, connecting lessons to students' lives, engaging students with challenging lessons, and emphasizing dialogue over lectures.
