KNEA members earn National Board Certification

 Congratulations to the KNEA members who have successfully proven themselves to be accomplished teachers by achieving National Board Certification.

This year 27 Kansas teachers earned National Board Certification (NBC).  Kansas now has 297 teachers who earned National Board Certification.

National Board Certification is the result of a rigorous, multi-year process that involves analyses of teaching and learning, on the part of the teacher and his/her students.  Candidates complete 10 different assessments which are scored according to challenging rubrics.
 
NBC status lasts for 10 years.  Kansas NBCTs receive a $1,000 stipend from the state for each year of certification and many negotiated agreements include additional monetary recognition.
