Review: Despite living in America for years, Yuki Nakahara's father is taken prisoner by the U.S. in 1942 under suspicion of spying, and soon Yuki's family is moved to a relocation camp. While his family makes the most of their plight, Yuki believes that the only way to redeem his father's reputation is by enlisting. But just because he and his fellow-Japanese-American friend are now part of the U.S. army doesn't mean the prejudice stops. The author's endnote provides additional background about the army's 442nd Regimental Combat Team, comprised of Japanese-Americans that fought in Europe.
